  • Bowl
  • Skillet - 10 or 12 inches
  • Whisk
  • Plate

  • 2 cups Almond milk Eyeball your milk for the amount of bread you have. Use regular milk if you'd like
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract you can also eyeball this to taste. Use vanilla essence if you don't have the extract.
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar to your taste
  • butter unsalted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 12 slices bread sliced bread works, but you can also slice up a loaf of brioche, for exampleto your desired thickness

  • Put all of the ingredients (except the bread) into a medium sized bowl and whisk until well combined.
  • Meanwhile, melt, over medium heat, enough butter to coat the bottom of a 10 or 12 inch skillet. Do not let the butter get too brown. Unless of course you like it like that!
  • Dip the slices of bread in the milk mixture - do this on both sides. Do not over saturate!
  • Fry the dipped slices in the melted butter until it gets golden brown on that side (place about three slices in the skillet at one time). Flip the bread and allow to cook to the same doneness as the first side.
  • Repeat until you've make a mouthwatering stack of toast.
  • You can dust with some icing sugar for presentation but I find it doesn't add to the final taste. Top with sweet strawberries, blueberries, bananas or even some maple syrup. I can confirm all of those options will be equally delicious.
